Respironics, one of the leading manufacturers of oxygen concentrators, is at it again! This time with their brand new, 5 pound portable oxygen concentrator the Respironics SimplyGo Mini. As the latest innovation from Respironics, the SimplyGo Mini has been turning heads since it was debuted at Medtrade in the spring. In fact, it won best new portable oxygen concentrator at the HME 2015 conference this past October.
The Basics
The SimplyGo Mini is the smallest and lightest portable oxygen concentrator ever created by Respironics. Weighing in 5 pounds and standing just 9.4” H x 8.3” W x 3.6” the SimplyGo Mini will never weigh you down or restrict your mobility.
The Mini is a pulse flow portable oxygen concentrator, it does not have the ability to switch to continuous flow. Don’t let the small size of the unit fool you, it offers pulse flow settings 1-5 to accommodate most oxygen patients.
Easy to Carry
At 5 pounds and less than 10” tall the SimplyGo Mini is non-invasive and extremely lightweight. Its small size makes it easy to bring with you anywhere and it doesn’t require a lot of energy to carry. It’s ideal for any active oxygen patient or anyone looking to regain their active lifestyle. It comes with a durable and lightweight carrying case to make transporting your concentrator as comfortable and as easy as possible.
The custom carrying case is equipped with a padded shoulder strap and a padded handle strap for comfortable carrying wherever you go. You will never be left adjusting the straps to keep them from digging into your skin.
Battery Options
With two battery options, the SimplyGo Mini gives you the ability to customize your setup to suit your needs. The 8-cell battery keeps the concentrator at a true 5 pounds and provides up to 4.5 hours of battery life on a single charge. The 16-cell battery adds about a pound of weight to the concentrator making the SimplyGo Mini weigh around 6 pounds. However, it provides you with up to 9 hours of use on a single charge.
The 8-cell battery is ideal for doing things like working around your home, running quick errands, or exercising with oxygen. Whereas the 16-cell battery is perfect for doing things like traveling, going to watch a sporting event, or date night.
Simple Operation
Despite being the newest concentrator on the market, the Respironics SimplyGo Mini is extremely simple to operate. It is equipped with a brand new, vibrant touch screen display that takes very little time to get used to.
The touch screen display makes it easy for you to see vital information in a matter of seconds. It has visual cues to help you power your concentrator on and off, check your remaining battery life, and change your oxygen setting. You can even check the alarm history through the new touch screen display.
Recharging Batteries
There are 3 different ways you can recharge your batteries for your SimplyGo Mini. You can plug your concentrator into the AC power supply to recharge your batteries and power your concentrator while you are at home, you can plug your concentrator into the DC power supply to recharge your batteries and power your concentrator while you are in your car or truck, and you can plug your battery into the external battery charger.
Battery Recharge Time
8-Cell Battery: Up to 4 hours maximum
16-Cell Battery: Up to 8 hours maximum
Charging with the AC Power Supply
Plugging your SimplyGo Mini into the AC power supply is the most common way to recharge your batteries. The AC power supply is equipped with a 110v power cord allowing you to plug it into any wall outlet. Once your machine is plugged in the battery will begin to recharge and the concentrator will simultaneously provide you with oxygen. If you are using your concentrator while it’s charging, the battery will take longer to achieve a full charge.
Charging with the DC Power Supply
The DC power supply allows you to recharge your battery while you are on the go. Whether you are running errands, driving to visit friends, or heading home from dinner and a movie, the DC power supply will recharge your battery and allow you to use your concentrator on all 5 pulse flow settings. When charging your battery with the DC power supply it will take longer to achieve a full charge because of the limited power going to the battery.
Charging with the External Battery Charger
The external battery charger is generally the quickest and most convenient way to recharge your SimplyGo Mini batteries. The charger is equipped with a 110v power cord allowing you to plug it into any wall outlet. The great thing about the external charger is that if you have more than one battery you can use your concentrator to go run errands, take your dog for a walk, or get some chores done around the house while your extra battery recharges.
